His Princess

We wanted to let you all know of a program we will be implementing with the children who come to King's Ranch. This is something we do with our own children and feel that God would have us share it with them.

For the girls, we've used His Little Princess material by Sherri Rose Shepherd (www.hisprincess.com). We as women and girls have always dreamed of being a princess! We dream as little girls of being rescued by a knight in shining armour and living happily ever after! When we come to know Jesus as our Savior, we become children of God (John 1:12). Because we are children of the King of Kings, we are royalty (1Peter 2:9)! We are His daughters, His princesses! Jesus is our knight in shining armour who rescues us (Galatians 1:3-4) and we do get to live happily ever after in the most amazing place - Heaven (Philippians 3:20)!

When each of our girls come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, we have a crowning ceremony for them! This is a grand event! We have a progressive dinner. At our first stop we learn that Jesus is our King! He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Rev.19:16)! At our second stop, we learn that God knew us and loved us before we were even born(Psalm 139:13)! At the third stop, we learn that God loved us so much, that He sent his only son, Jesus, to die for us (John 3:16)! The girls received their tiaras to be worn as a symbol to remind them that they are children of the King (John 1:12) and they have a royal calling on their lives (Ephesians 2:10)!

When each girl turns 10, we have a preparation ceremony for her to encourage her to prepare to carry out God's perfect plan for her life. This evening is based on the book of Esther. It is a night full of fun beauty treatments as we focus on what it means to have a beautiful mind, body, and spirit in God's eyes. And at age 13, we have a purity ceremony where we focus on remaining pure in thought and action as a child of the King! This night starts with a special dinner with just mom and dad and of course everything is decorated in white, including the dresses worn by all the princesses.

The boys have based their program on the book "Raising a Modern Day Knight". They have taken many adventurous outings while they focus on what it means to be a real man- a modern day knight! Using Jesus as the ultimate example of knighthood! Like the girls, the boys will have ceremonies to mark significant milestones in their lives!

These programs been such a blessing for our families! It's a blessing we need to share with kids who have a painful past. Kids who don't feel they have much worth. For them to come to know Jesus and realize that they have immense worth! They were worth so much to Him that he died for them! They are CHILDREN OF THE KING!

All for the King,

Eddie and Lee
