The King's Ranch Home!




We are excited to be able to share with you very good news! We have signed a contract on a home for King's Ranch! It is a beautiful 4900 square foot house that sits on 10 acres of dogwood and blackberry filled forest! The view from the back of the house is breathtaking! It overlooks a 2 acre lake with a dock, and just beyond the levee, a larger 20 acre watershed lake! Perfect for the children who will come to King's Ranch!! God is so good. He gives us more than we can ask or imagine! The house is perfect to meet the needs of the kids. We will have to add a bathroom for the relief houseparents bedroom. So...if you or anyone you know has the skills necessary and feels God leading, we have a need that, perhaps, you could help meet.

Please pray! Pray that God would provide the materials and labor force necessary to add the bathroom and tend to some maintenance issues. Pray that King's Ranch would find favor in the eyes of the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission and the conditional use permit needed would be granted. Pray that God will change the hearts of our opposition. Thank you for all your support and prayers!

His Princess


We wanted to let you all know of a program we will be implementing with the children who come to King's Ranch. This is something we do with our own children and feel that God would have us share it with them.

For the girls, we've used His Little Princess material by Sherri Rose Shepherd (www.hisprincess.com). We as women and girls have always dreamed of being a princess! We dream as little girls of being rescued by a knight in shining armour and living happily ever after! When we come to know Jesus as our Savior, we become children of God (John 1:12). Because we are children of the King of Kings, we are royalty (1Peter 2:9)! We are His daughters, His princesses! Jesus is our knight in shining armour who rescues us (Galatians 1:3-4) and we do get to live happily ever after in the most amazing place - Heaven (Philippians 3:20)!


When each of our girls come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, we have a crowning ceremony for them! This is a grand event! We have a progressive dinner. At our first stop we learn that Jesus is our King! He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Rev.19:16)! At our second stop, we learn that God knew us and loved us before we were even born(Psalm 139:13)! At the third stop, we learn that God loved us so much, that He sent his only son, Jesus, to die for us (John 3:16)! The girls received their tiaras to be worn as a symbol to remind them that they are children of the King (John 1:12) and they have a royal calling on their lives (Ephesians 2:10)!



When each girl turns 10, we have a preparation ceremony for her to encourage her to prepare to carry out God's perfect plan for her life. This evening is based on the book of Esther. It is a night full of fun beauty treatments as we focus on what it means to have a beautiful mind, body, and spirit in God's eyes. And at age 13, we have a purity ceremony where we focus on remaining pure in thought and action as a child of the King! This night starts with a special dinner with just mom and dad and of course everything is decorated in white, including the dresses worn by all the princesses.





The boys have based their program on the book "Raising a Modern Day Knight". They have taken many adventurous outings while they focus on what it means to be a real man- a modern day knight! Using Jesus as the ultimate example of knighthood! Like the girls, the boys will have ceremonies to mark significant milestones in their lives!

These programs been such a blessing for our families! It's a blessing we need to share with kids who have a painful past. Kids who don't feel they have much worth. For them to come to know Jesus and realize that they have immense worth! They were worth so much to Him that he died for them! They are CHILDREN OF THE KING!

God Never Ceases To Amaze Us...


I have to admit that we were wondering if the rummage sale would be worth all the work it took to get it together, but God did so much more than we could have imagined. We raised almost $1000 dollars on the first day. That night we talked about how we probably would not make much the next day because all of our merchandise was gone. Wrong again!! God amazed us by sending a $1000 dollar donation by 8:30am that morning! The grand total for the whole weekend was almost $2900 dollars! WOW!


As if that were not enough, we were contacted by KAIT about doing a story on King's Ranch and promoting the rummage sale. They did a wonderful story that ran on Friday. We will be posting the video on our blog soon for all who missed it when it aired. Several people came to the sale because they saw the story and we've had several calls from interested supporters!
We were so blessed to have had several people volunteer for setting up , helping customers, and clean up! Thank you to our helpers!! We could not have done it without you!!

News from the Ranch

The dinner for our prospective advisory board was a great success!! We had 48 people who attended to hear more about King's Ranch and consider joining us as advisory board members! God definitely was there and the holy spirit empowered Eddie and I to give our testimonies and share the vision He has given us for King's Ranch! Speaking in front of people is one of my greatest fears and as it turns out, running King's Ranch is going to require a lot of that. Once again, God reminds me that when I am weak, He is strong! Please pray for those who are still deciding about joining the board.


Eddie met with the city planner a week or so ago. They have found a cost effective way for us to proceed with building our first house. Just as we were preparing to submit our application to the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, a house came up for sale that adjoins our property. Please pray that if this is God's leading that we could agree on a reasonable price. We need God to light the path for us in this matter- build or buy? We will let you know more details as this situation progresses.

Rummage Sale is next weekend. We are still taking donated pre-priced items up until Wednesday. You can drop it off at 1005 Rossland Drive. We also would love to have any volunteers to help take money, set up merchandise, etc.

We can't express to you how your encouragement and support helps us keep pressing on even in the face of opposition. Thank you so much!

News from the Ranch

The jam sale was a success! We raised almost $400.00 and still have more jam left to sell! The kids loved getting to participate in helping raise money for King's Ranch! We gave out our brochure and fact sheet to all who donated or purchased the jam, and all were very interested in knowing about the ranch! Thanks for praying! We will schedule another jam sale soon.

This Thursday we have a meeting with the city planner to discuss the construction of our lst home. We need to have a sewer, water, electric, and road plan in place BEFORE we go back to the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission Meeting. Please pray that we will find favor in the eyes of city officials, and that they would desire to help us cost effectively make King's Ranch a reality. We want to be good stewards of the resources God has blessed us with!

We are still working toward our rummage sale on October 19th and 20th. Board members, Shannon and Jeff Puryear, have graciously offered to organize and host this event at their home. A big thank you to them! We have also submitted a letter to Chick-fil-A asking them to help underwrite the travel expenses, facility costs, etc. of our Phillips, Craig, and Dean benefit concert. We hope to hear from them soon!

Finally, we will have a chili supper on October 11th at our home for our prospective advisory board members. Please pray that God would lead each person to know his will in this matter and that he would put the people he desires on the board.
